My Mac says Deskfold "can't be opened"

If you bought Deskfold on this website and your Mac only allows apps from the App Store, click OK, then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security and click Open Anyway next to the Deskfold message. You can also set "Allow applications from" to "App Store & Known Developers". Deskfold is signed and checked by Apple, so it's safe to open.

I don't see my folders

Deskfold draws folders on the desktop, below your windows. Show the desktop with ⌘F3, by spreading your thumb and three fingers on the trackpad, or by moving your windows aside. If Deskfold isn't running, open it from Applications. Its grid icon appears in the menu bar.

How do I open a folder or launch an app?

Click a folder to open it, then click an app to launch it. Click outside the folder or press Esc to close it.

How do I rearrange folders and apps?

Hold a folder, an app or an empty spot on the desktop until everything jiggles. Then drag to move, click − to remove and click + to add apps. Click Done or anywhere outside to finish. You can also choose Arrange Folders from the menu bar icon.

How do I rename a folder?

Open the folder and click its name, type the new name and press Return.

How do I make a new folder?

While arranging, drag one app onto another and hold for a moment. Deskfold makes a new folder with both apps. You can also drag apps in from Finder or the Dock.

How do I change the look?

Open Settings from the menu bar icon. Under Look, choose Glass, Tinted, Solid or Clear. To give a folder its own colour, open it, hold an app and pick a colour under the name. Settings also has folder size, spacing, rows and columns, position and which display to use.

My folders are gone after restarting my Mac

Turn on "Open Deskfold at login" in Settings. If it says it was turned off in System Settings, click Open Login Items… and switch Deskfold back on.

Can I start over?

In Settings, choose Reset… under Folders. Deskfold rebuilds folders from your installed apps. Your apps themselves are never touched.

How do I uninstall Deskfold?

Quit it from the menu bar icon, then drag Deskfold from Applications to the Trash.
